Emeralds : 2 hours 2 times/week
Sapphires : 2 hours 3 times/week (training level 3)
Developmental 4's : 3 hours 3 times/week (training level 4)
USAG levels 3-10
Athletes compete and move through the levels based on the mastery of certain skills as well as qualifying scores set forth by USA Gymnastics. Levels 3-6 have set routines on each event that all athletes across the country perform. Levels 3-6 compete during the months of September through November with the State competition in December. Levels 7-10 compete optional routines on all events. These routines have set requirements on each event but ALL routines are specific to each individual's assets. The athlete has a wider variety of selection when it comes to choosing the skills she competes. Competition begins in January and runs through March with the opportunity (based on scores) of both Regional and National competitions ending in May.
TOP (Talent Opportunity Program)
The TOP is a talent search and education program for female athletes ages 7-11 and their coaches. During June and July athletes are evaluated on physical abilities at the State and Regional level. From there they are invited to participate in the National TOP test that is conducted in October where they are also evaluated on a select set of skills. They are then invited to the National TOP camps that take place in December at the National Team Training Center in Houston, TX.
